NAMING YOUR HOME
Deciding upon a name for your home can seem daunting.
The possibilities can seem limitless, so here a few ideas to help you reach a decision.
•The deed to your home may name your ’county’ and ‘parish’ and include any original names of your property or the surrounding estate that are no longer commonly used. It may also include the names and occupations of any previous owners that can be used as an inspiration
•Your street or suburb can be included as part of your house name eg. CLOVELLY COTTAGE or BRIDGE STREET MEWS
•An architectural or geographical feature of your area can be used eg. HILLCREST, BRIDGEVIEW, RIVERSIDE •The house can be named after a favourite plant that may be a feature of the garden eg. CAMELLIA COTTAGE, GUMTREE HOUSE
•A name can be created using parts of your own names eg. Brian, Emma and Allyson can become BREMALLY
•You may wish to name your house after a favourite holiday destination or a place associated with your family ancestry
